A protein shake does not need to contain added sugar or be artificially overloaded. With just a few ingredients, a balanced shake can be prepared that can be flexibly integrated into everyday life – whether after training or as a protein-rich snack.
This recipe uses GreatVita protein powder in combination with erythritol.
Erythritol is a sugar alcohol that:
is virtually calorie-free
is not an added sugar
has a neutral to slightly cooling taste
is heat-stable
It is therefore well suited for cold drinks and shakes.
30 g GreatVita Protein Powder (e.g., pea protein or hemp protein)
250 ml unsweetened almond drink or water
1–2 tsp erythritol (to taste)
½ banana or a handful of berries (optional)
3–4 ice cubes
Add liquid to a blender.
Add protein powder.
Stir in erythritol.
Add fruit optionally.
Blend until creamy for 20–30 seconds.
Alternatively, the shake can also be prepared in a shaker – then without ice cubes and solid ingredients.
The shake provides in the basic version:
a defined amount of protein
small amounts of usable carbohydrates (depending on the protein)
hardly any fat (with water base)
The exact composition depends on the chosen protein powder and liquid.
add 1 tsp almond butter
omit banana
instead, a small amount of frozen berries
blend in 1 tsp chia seeds
add 1 tbsp oat bran
Typical areas of use:
after training
as a protein-rich supplement in everyday life
on the go
with increased protein needs
It does not replace a complete meal but can be part of a structured diet.
Dose erythritol slowly – too much can be taste-dominant
Add powder only after the liquid (prevents clumping)
For plant-based proteins, blend a little longer for a better texture
A protein shake without added sugar is easy to prepare. With erythritol as a sweetening alternative and a high-quality protein powder like GreatVita, a flexible, individually adaptable variant can be created – clearly dosable and suitable for everyday use.
